Updated: 06/02/08 (Check back often)

Frequently Asked Questions (General & Technical-if you do not see your question here, please check back soon-we are getting your answer and will post it here):

Q: When does the Race start?
A: Official race start time is 8:00am. We will have a Driver parade down Taylor Street, the National Anthem, a word from the Director, and prayer. Then it is RACE, RACE, RACE!

Q: How long will the Race take?
A:
Past race days have typically lasted around 6-8 hours. Rain is our greatest foe. If the skies are clear, we have finished around 5:00pm before.

Q: Where is the Race track?
A:
We race ON Taylor Street in downtown Columbia, beside Finlay Park. The Start line is located at the intersection of Taylor Street and Park Street, near the Post Office. The Finish line is at the red light intersection of Taylor Street and Gadsden Street, at the bottom of Finlay Park.

Q: Is there an admission fee?
A:
Admission is free. Along the 900+ feet of track, there is plenty of space to pitch a canopy, spread out a blanket and/or bring your lawn chairs. For the ease of visibility for the Race officials, we ask that seating and canopies ON THE FINLAY PARK SIDE of the track remain on the grassy area.

Q: Will there be a concession stand?
A:
The CMSBD Board will not be responsible for a concession stand at this time.

Q: What about parking?
A:
Parking is available in the Employment Security Commission parking lot on Saturday (Race day) only. This lot is located at the bottom of the hill, near the Finish line, on the corner of Taylor and Gadsden Streets. For the safety of our drivers, parking will not be allowed on Taylor Street, within our Race Staging, Track and Run-off areas.
